Derek Sivers inspireert

Twee korte inspirerende filmpjes van Derek Sivers, de oprichter van CD Baby.

In het eerste filmpje, Derek Sivers speech to Berklee College of Music, vertelt hij over zijn “hard lessons learned”, de zes dingen die hij graag had willen weten op zijn eerste dag op Berklee. 1. Focus, disconnect and do not be distracted.  2. Do not accept their speed limit. “When you are not practicing, someone else is. And when you meet him, he will win” (Martial arts saying). 3. Nobody will teach you anything, you have to teach yourself.  4. Learn from your heroes, not only theirs. 5. Don’t get stucked in the past. 6. When done, be valuable.

In het tweede vertelt hij over perfectie, over de valkuilen daarvan en hoe die te omzeilen voor een succesvolle creatieve artistieke carriere. Hij zegt hierin: If you get a philosofy of starting lots of sentences with the words “Let’s see what happens if…”  then you also start to look at everything as an experiment. And if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t mean you are a failure.

Nuttig en inspirerend materiaal als je op het punt staat de sprong in het onbekende diepe van creativiteit en kunst te wagen.
